Back to back CNN dreams
This past weekend, I had dreams where I returned to CNN as a video editor for the first time in two years.
One day, I had a dream where I was working in the edit pool with some of my favorite colleagues. I was back working on the old Pinnacle Liquid Blue system. It had been more than two years since I worked on Pinnacle, but I had no trouble editing on it for different assignments.
I had a warm, fuzzy feeling about working there again. I had co-workers believing in me and telling me that I was doing all right. I remembered the yellow highlight when it came to clicking on a bin and a section where I needed to use raw video to make clean, cut video for air.
The next day, I had a dream where I was working at CNN NewSource. I had a lot of people encouraging me to take my time to get to know the system there. In the dream, it was two years since I last worked down in NewSource. Everybody was very friendly and helpful to me. My co-workers were very patient with me too. I didn't want to let anyone down and I wanted to get it right for everybody I was working with.
Back to reality. I'm still working hard here at WGCL-TV/CBS Atlanta News. I edit news, sports, and public affairs from Saturday to Wednesday. I don't know what the future holds for me or if I want to make another comeback at Turner Broadcasting/CNN.
I may have to re-think that one since I learned that HLN is going in a different direction and that layoffs will result from that. If there is anything I can do to reach out to those people and help them out, I want to do that. I want to help make their dreams come true someday.
