AWARD WINNING COMPOSED CHRIS OWENBY IS DIRECTING A CHRISTMAS CONCERT AT HIS NEW CHURCH.

THE DIRECTOR OF MUSIC AND WORSHIP BRINGS YEARS OF EXPERIENCE TO HIS JOB AT EASTMINSTER PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.

HIS GOAL IS TO BRING PEOPLE TOGETHER NEAR THE TIME OF JESUS' BIRTHDAY.

OWENBY'S MUSIC HAS BEEN PERFORMED IN CONCERTS, CHOIRS, AND ON THE RADIO.

THE FREE CONCERT WILL HAPPEN DECEMBER 12TH AND IS OPEN TO EVERYONE.

EASTMINSTER IS LOCATED ON 3125 SEWELL MILL ROAD IN MARIETTA.

A JURY CONVICTED MATTHEW NUTT OF FIRST DEGREE CRUELTY TO A CHILD AND THREE OTHER CHARGES.

HE SHOOK HIS INFANT DAUGHTER FOUR YEARS AGO WHILE CLAIMING HE DROPPED HER ON HER HEAD.

DOCTORS TESTIFIED THAT NUTT WAS LYING ABOUT HIS DAUGHTER'S INJURIES AFTER THEY EXAMINED HER IN AN EMERGENCY ROOM.

JUDGE JAMES BODIFORD SENTENCED HIM TO THE MAXIMUM ALLOWED BY STATE LAW ON FRIDAY. 


TWO PHILADELPHIA NEWSPAPERS ARE MERGING INTO ONE OPERATION.

THE PARENT COMPANY OF THE INQUIRER AND DAILY NEWS WILL SHARE RESOURCES WHILE MAINTAINING THEIR DISTINCTIVE BRANDS.

THE INQUIRER WILL REPORT THE NEWS OF THE DAY WHILE THE DAILY NEWS WILL REMAIN AS A TABLOID.

THE MERGER WILL RESULT IN COST CUTTING AND LAYOFFS.



THE MARIETTA DAILY JOURNAL LOSES A LONG TIME EDITOR AND A FRIEND.

JOE KIRBY LOST HIS BATTLE WITH CANCER ON FRIDAY.

HE SPENT MORE THAN A QUARTER CENTURY WITH THE PAPER, THE LAST 23 AS THE EDITORIAL PAGE EDITOR.

KIRBY LEAVES BEHIND A WIFE AND TWO CHILDREN.  

JOE KIRBY WAS JUST 60 YEARS AGO.
