From San Diego to Atlanta (Oct 30 & Oct 31)

My day with Kelly started from the Hotel going down I-8 West to Hwy 163 South (or was it I-5 South). I forget. Anyway we spend most of the day at the San Diego Zoo. My favorite exhibits where the cute koala bears, the polar bears, and the flamingos. I have a ton of pictures to prove it.

My lasting experience of the zoo was riding the scary high gondola across the zoo just to get from the polar bear exhibit to the exit to our car.

From the zoo, we took I-5 South to the Coronado Bridge (Hwy 75). I've not been to Coronado since 1996 and I was due for a trip on the bridge onto the island. After a few lost turns, I accidently end up near North Island Naval Air Station. I best be moving further South on How 75 towards the Silver Strand and Imperial Beach.

Before I get back on the road, Kelly and I had to set foot on the Pacific Ocean together. I've done it before, but it was Kelly's first footprint onto the beaches of the West Coast. The cool sight was the jet planes and Helicopters flying in and out of North Island NAS.

Imperial Beach got there faster than i thought it would for me. Heading down Hwy 75 lead me on my way to Palm Avenue. I get even more adventurous by landing on Seacoast Drive and seeing where one of my dad's old friends used to live and where I used to visit. It was nice beachfront property.

As I was driving down the street, I get a text message "Welcoming me to Mexico". Gee, I don't remember crossing the border. I thought it was funny that I was 'welcomed to Mexico'. I needed a cerveza after that.

After we stopped for a bite to eat, we got back on the road up I-5 North to Hawthorn Street to the rental car place to dump my car off.

Then it was a bus shuttle ride to San Diego Airport/Lindberg Field to hop onto a red eye flight aboard Delta to get back to Atlanta on Halloween in time for both of us to get back to work.

TOUCHDOWN!!!! We are home.
