Distant Video Replay of 2019 #6: Super Mario Bros. (1985) Full Walkthrough NES Gameplay [Nostalgia]

Logging dreams

Last night/this morning, I had a dream where I was on an adventure.  I was chasing newspaper headlines from the month of may and then trying to type them onto a computer afterward.

I don't remember where I was in search of headlines.  I remember that it was dark outside.  I also remember that I was either in the Phoenix or Atlanta area.

In search of my headlines, I was looking for hard news headlines.  You know, REAL NEWS headlines.  I was not looking for softer side of the news.

After a while, I was getting near the end of the dream and I started to find my headlines and log them on my computer afterward.

In reality:  I woke up just before 12:15 this morning.

When I'm not busy, I like to read the news (and sports).  I like logging the headlines, the sub-headlines, the story topics, and the scores of games as the games are happening.

I really consider myself a historian or an archivist.  I'd like to think I'm a curator of old news.  That was one of my dreams as a teenager.  You know, to be a keeper of events that happened on television.  Professor Robert Johnson of Syracuse University has me beat on that idea.

Things to be positive for

I meant to say thankful.  It's not even 7am here in Atlanta yet, but I'm wide awake after editing for the first half of my shift.

I'm positive that my Atlanta Falcons are on the right track after winning two straight games on the road.

I'm positive that I may need a new career path soon.

I'm positive that I'm doing better as a father to my two sons.

I'm positive that better days are ahead.

I'm positive that I need a break for a while.

Distant Video Replay of 2019 #5: Johnny Olson Announces for MG-HS Hour (1984)

I have announcing dreams

Last Friday, I sent out e-mails to Cobb and Cherokee County (GA) school systems about being a PA announcer.  Later that same day, a high school lacrosse coach e-mailed me about announcing the team's games.

I wanted to tell my family here at home, but I didn't know how to do that.  I worried more about the day care costs for my two sons than I did about my own hopes and dreams.

Maybe tonight during pizza night, I will tell my wife about the new possibility.  I will not let it interfere with my day job as a video editor for WGCL-TV.

In the meantime, I will practice my play-by-play in front of my big screen TV and I will do my sports updates in front of my iPhone just about every other day.

Life is good and it's only getting better.

In the next month, I will put it out there on Facebook again that I want to be an announcer.  I can't wait to see what the feedback will be.

Dreaming of the Atlanta Thrashers

Last Night, I had a dream where I saw the Atlanta Thrashers on LIVE TV again.  I even had a dream that the Thrashers were my A team.

THE BATTLE OF THE A TEAMS
In my dream, I had dueling A teams i nmy head.  I had the Carolina Hurricanes as my new A team in the NHL.  Out of Nowhere, the Thrashers came back as my A team for a while.  Two A teams from the same Southeast Region of the US.  I could have never predicted that it would happen.

I was traveling Northbound on I-75 in the nice Buckhead section of Atlanta.  I was going past W. Paces Ferry Road heading into Cobb County.

After that, I woke up.

MY A TEAM REALITY
The Atlanta Thrashers were NEVER my A team.  They were my B team as the Phoenix/Arizona Coyotes were my A team for years.

The Carolina Hurricanes supplanted my old A team, the Arizona Coyotes this season.  I get more Hurricanes games on TV than I do Coyotes Games, especially here in the Atlanta Area.

I'm too cheap to pay for an NHL.TV subscription.

Dreaming of people doing my work for me

Wednesday Night, I had a dream where people at work helped me out by downloading video for me after a reporter sent an e-mail out to the entire editing team.

In my dream, I was at "work" at the CNN.com newsroom which doubled as the CBS46 News Lab.  People actually downloaded video for m on my behalf before I had to even lift a finger.  I was excited, joyful, and happy.  I sat at my desk before I had to do anything.

Now in reality, I woke up.  When I went to work, nobody responded to the e-mail saying they downloaded video for a story.  The story was about how Atlanta's major sports teams are cursed.

Curses, I had to do more work on Thursday.  Once I got going, I was rolling.  I was able to download video from the 1995 World Series, the 2017 Super Bowl 51, the 2015 Eastern Conference Finals where the Atlanta Hawks got swept, 2011 video of the Atlanta Thrashers moving to Winnipeg, and the 2012 "infield fly rule" game in the 2012 NL Wild Card Game from Turner Field.

I hope the reporter and photojournalist appreciated my downloads and efforts.  In the end, my job is to help people out in addition to editing video.

Dreaming of weight loss

I dream of losing a lot of weight.

After I returned from my Myrtle Beach vacation, I ballooned to 205 pounds.  I knew I had to make some changes in my diet and my life.

On Monday, I went to the gym to run on the treadmill and do some abdominal crunches.  I want to lose weight and get a firmer stomach.  I went back again on Wednesday and I plan to go back again today.

I have eliminated soda and sugar from my diet.  I am working on limiting the amount of fried and fast food that I put into my mouth.  I'm committed to drinking more water.  I'm having a tough time eliminating coffee and juice from my diet.

As of today, I've dropped to 200.1 pounds.  I would live to get to my valley weight of 169.5 pounds in the near future.  I'm dreaming of that now.

In honor of my 1,250th post, I present the $1250 space from Wheel of Fortune (circa 1989)

Big decision this week

I still have a dream that I have to follow.  On and off for eight years, I've been doing sports updates on YouTube, Facebook, and even here on this blog.

This week, I'm putting together my best sports update clips in one nice reel.  I'm going to submit them to at least two radio stations via YouTube (and e-mail) to program directors here in Atlanta.  I think I can do it.  It's just a matter of Program Directors and Radio Executives believing that I can do it.

I have until Friday to work on my delivery and put the best clips out there for executives to see.  One of my friends and co-workers has challenged me to get this done.  If I don't do it now, I probably never will.  This is my chance.

After working eight hours already today, my brain feels like mush.  The words won't come out as cleanly as they should.  A lot of thoughts are running around in my mind.  I'm ready to go.  See!

Dreaming of staying at a hotel with my late father

Late last night, I had this dream where I stayed at this high-rise hotel with my late father.  We were asleep for a while.  After that, my dad wanted me to change the settings on the TV.  Somehow, I changed the settings on the TV while I was half-asleep.  Later on in the dream, I got a nasty phone call from someone at the front desk.

Someone gave me a big tongue-lashing about what I did.  In no uncertain terms, the front desk manager yelled at me.  He said that I should have never changed the settings on my TV no matter who told me to do so.  What I did jeopardized the whole viewing pleasures for every room throughout the hotel.  I was caught flat-footed and speechless for what I did.  All hope was lost.

Later on, I woke up.

In reality, my dad and I may have stayed at a nice fancy hotel one time we were together.  I've stayed at more nicer hotels since my dad's unfortunate passing a long time ago.  It may be a while before I go on another vacation again.  It just all depends on how things go the rest of the year.  Also, I won't be an electronics hero in trying to fix things.  I'll leave that to the rest of my family.
