Dreaming of a better 2019
This year was one of the hardest of my professional career. In some way, I was supposed to celebrate 20 years of getting paid to work in television. I really wanted to. I wanted to put a big "2 0" somewhere on social media to celebrate my milestone. I never did because I felt bad about what I did and did not do this year.
I had trouble creating projects on my own at work. Rather than me be successfully innovative, I had to resort to my 'old ways' of creating projects on the old AVID system for the first half of the year.
The next part of my pain was with deletions/media management. I felt so bad about myself and was made to feel bad about myself for failing to get to the 70% capacity threshold for usage by the end of my workweek on Fridays. I didn't feel that I had anywhere to turn. I had to answer to my manager about my failings. At times, I felt like I ducked and ran for failing to met my 70% threshold. I even got written up for it last year.
The only thing that saved me from further pain was getting a new AVID system. Because of that, I was off the hook for deleting media until a later date. That date would never come because there was a regime change in my immediate management team here at work.
As of this writing, I'm still not fully trained (yet) on how to delete media in the new system.
I took a class on how to delete media the right way and have had two sessions on how to do it with my new managers. Soon, I will be back to deleting media the right way again.
So after feeling sorry for myself and wallowing in self-pity, I feel a little bit better now.
So, I give you this for the end of 2018:

I had a dream with my family
Early this morning, I had a fun dream. I was with my family at my mother-in-law's house. We were having fun in the playroom in the daytime. For some reason, I was getting tired and almost ready for bed.
My wife, mother-in-law, sons Ben and Blake, and I were all on a big mattress on the floor. We were playing around, and I held my old gray teddy bear in front of Blake. That bear now belongs to Blake.
I was zooming the bear closer and closer to Blake's face. He was smiling and giggling. That made my wife and I happy. Ben was somewhere behind us in the background.
My wife was proud of me for giving Blake my old bear and playing with him. I love to play games and toys with Blake and Ben.
In reality: I woke up just before 2 A.M. to get ready for work.
Yesterday, Blake and I played catch with his gray bear (Teddy). We each had the same number of catches, but Blake had more laughs and smiles. I 'worried' that Teddy would get hurt if nobody caught him. Thank goodness he's only a teddy bear.
I love that I can pass on y bears and my love for bears down to Blake. Someday I hope I can make Ben a teddy bear man.

Dreaming of an all L.A. Superbowl in Atlanta
It is all but official now. My dreams of the Atlanta Falcons playing Super Bowl 53 in their home stadium died on Sunday. My Falcons fell to 4-8 with a 26-16 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
WHERE IT ALL WENT WRONG
My Falcons were feeling pretty good about themselves with a 4-4 record heading into Cleveland. My Falcons should have been able to take advantage of abad young Browns team on the road. Instead, the Browns thumped my Falcons 26-18.
That started a downward death spiral of a four game losing streak. That streak includes four straight games where my Falcons failed to score 20 or more points each time. I don't know when my Falcons are going to win another game in 2018.
NEW DREAM
My C team, the LA Chargers, are 9-3 with four games to go in the regular season. The LA Rams are 11-1 with an NFC WEST division title in hand. They have already all but clinched a first round bye in the 2018 postseason. The Chargers are (for now) frimly entrenched in the 1st Wild Card spot in the AFC.
The Chargers are nine days away from playing their biggest game of the season (at Kansas City). For once, I would love to see the Chargers avenge their losses to the Chiefs. The ones that stick out to me are in 2014 at KC (knocking the Chargers out of the playoffs), and in 2016 (when Keenan Allen was lost for the year with a non-contact knee injury).

I want to see the RAMS AND CHARGERS play in Super Bowl 53. I would call it the "Freeway" super bowl, or the REAL Battle of LA.

Not only have I not had anything to dream about, I don't have any dreams of my own anymore.
