On this day 16 years ago, My eyes, ears, and feet all entered the City of Atlanta for the very first time. I was as wide-eyed into a new big city as I could be.
I was able to see Turner Field to my right for the first time in person. O.K. so I saw it from I-20. I saw it a lot on TV. I saw it on TV especially when my 1998 San Diego Padres took home the pennant vs. the Braves in Game 6 of the NLCS.
I was excited about being in a new city. I really was. I traveled the United States in such depth from I-10, I-20, I-20/I-59, I-459, and I-20 again. It was my first major trip across the country since 1992.
I woke up on my anniversary day at 8:08AM. Ben was happy happy happy to see me. I was so happy to see him, Blake, and my wife Kelly. We were watching cartoons before Ben got ready for breakfast. He had a feast fit for a king only for me to finish it off.
Blake was trying to crawl around the carpet in the living room. I even took live video of the event. I felt like a true reporter during a live shot. It was awesome.
After I dropped Ben off at preschool, Kelly and I spent more quality time with Blake and Gandalf. Gandalf wants to be loved on, and I try to give him some quality time on my lap. I also wanted to make sure Blake was cared for and safe as he was learning to crawl. He's taking more 'steps' to become more mobile.
Blake is getting better on his hands and knees, we won't need to keep the playmat around the house anymore. My goal going forward at home is to make sure there is enough clean floor space for Blake to move around on. Earlier in the day, Blake spit up a lot on himself and the carpet. I have a bad feeling that the carpet is going to bite it big time in the end.
Here at work my mission is simple and stated: I need to learn how to write stories from the videos that CBS46 shoots itself. I think I've mastered the art of rewriting long, complicated stories from newspapers and online publications for Television (and radio). My goal is to marry video and words together. That starts again on Friday.
Peace out my friends. I'll be back for more tomorrow.
